01What is NEX THERMO insulation?

NEX THERMO is a prefabricated decorative insulation panel, supplied as one finished product, ready to install on the wall. The standard panel size is 2440 × 1220 mm.

The insulation material and decorative board are bonded together in the factory to form a single panel that provides both thermal insulation and the exterior finish. The complete product arrives on site with its decorative surface already finished.

The façade achieves a premium appearance, similar to the cladding seen on ventilated façades: clearly defined panels, orderly joints, and combinations of colours and textures that complement the building’s architecture.

The practical benefits:

  • One product for insulation and finish, prepared in the factory for installation.
  • Fewer operations on site, because the decorative finish is already applied.
  • An elegant, distinctive exterior, with natural stone, ceramic or metallic-look finishes.
  • Adaptable to your project, by cutting the panels and choosing their layout on the façade.

Panels are available with expanded polystyrene, graphite EPS or stone wool insulation. The complete panel is bonded and mechanically anchored to the prepared substrate, followed by sealing the joints.

We manufacture NEX THERMO panels in Giurgiu for houses, apartment buildings and commercial properties. At our Tunari showroom you can see the complete product, the finishes and how the panels are fixed to the wall.

02Decorative insulation panels or a conventional render system? Differences that matter over time

A façade is an investment for many years. Alongside thermal insulation, it is worth considering the appearance of the finish, resistance to everyday wear and maintenance.

The NEX THERMO system combines insulation material with a decorative board finished in the factory. This construction offers benefits during installation and throughout the building’s use.

An appearance that complements the architecture

With a conventional external insulation system, the final appearance comes from decorative render applied on site. With NEX THERMO, the panel dimensions, joint layout and combinations of colours and textures define the façade.

Natural stone, ceramic or metallic-look finishes can highlight parts of the building and create subtle or expressive contrasts. The result is a distinctive façade suited to the architecture of the house.

Factory finishing allows the application process and the appearance of the panels to be checked before they reach the site.

A solid surface with impact resistance

The exterior layer of a NEX THERMO panel is a rigid decorative board. It protects the insulation and contributes to the mechanical resistance of the assembly.

Impact resistance is particularly relevant in areas exposed to accidental contact, such as entrances, paths and terraces. For the owner, this helps preserve the integrity and appearance of the façade in everyday use.

Finishes that are easy to maintain

Dust, dirt and stains can affect the appearance of a façade over time. How the surface can be cleaned therefore matters too.

The coating on NEX THERMO panels offers resistance to washing and makes the surface easier to clean. Maintenance is part of choosing the system from the outset. Cleaning should use products and methods suitable for the chosen finish.

Adhesive bonding and mechanical anchoring

NEX THERMO panels are installed using adhesive mortar and mechanical fixing with butterfly anchors. Together, these secure the panels to the substrate, while sealed joints complete the façade’s protection.

In wind resistance testing, the NEX THERMO system achieved 7,200 Pa (7.2 kPa) for the configuration tested. This result highlights the role of the fixing system in resisting wind loads on the façade.

For each project, the anchoring configuration is determined by the substrate, building height and wind exposure, so that the panel choice is matched by appropriate installation.

Fewer finishing stages on site

A conventional external insulation system involves installing the insulation, applying the reinforced base coat, priming and applying decorative render, with the associated drying times.

NEX THERMO panels arrive as one finished product, with the insulation and decorative board bonded together in the factory, ready to install on the wall. This reduces on-site finishing operations and can shorten the work and the time scaffolding is needed.

Choose for the whole façade

The insulation material and thickness are selected according to the building’s needs. Finish, mechanical resistance, maintenance and installation complete this decision.

NEX THERMO brings these elements together in a decorative insulation panel system manufactured at our Giurgiu factory.

03Can NEX THERMO be installed directly over existing insulation?

Yes. The NEX THERMO anchoring system allows panels to be installed over existing insulation without removing it, when a technical assessment confirms that it can be retained.

This is a major renovation benefit: you do not pay to remove and dispose of material that can safely remain on the building. It avoids stripping the entire façade and the time spent on demolition and removing large amounts of rubble.

For you, this means:

  • Lower labour costs by avoiding removal of insulation that can be retained.
  • Savings on transport and disposal of waste from that removal.
  • A faster job, with less dust, noise and disruption around your home.
  • Additional insulation and a new finish in one panel, transforming the façade.

Before installation, we assess the condition of the existing insulation and supporting wall and determine an appropriate anchoring solution. Any damaged areas are repaired.

Your budget goes towards improving the house, while unnecessary removal work is avoided.

04How do you choose the panel colour and pattern for your house façade?

A successful façade begins with harmony between colour, texture and the architecture of the house. NEX THERMO panels offer natural stone, ceramic or metallic-look finishes that you can combine to complement your home.

Start with the elements you have already chosen. The roof colour, windows, front door and landscaping are useful reference points. The façade should complement them to create a coherent overall appearance.

Choose a main colour and use accents sparingly. Light shades such as white, cream or beige can create a bright, welcoming appearance. Darker tones can highlight the entrance, selected volumes or areas between windows. A well-chosen combination of two colours can be enough for an elegant, expressive façade.

Match the texture to the style of the house. Natural stone-look finishes add texture and warmth. Ceramic or metallic looks suit modern compositions with clear lines. The layout of panels and joints completes the façade design.

Look at samples in natural light. A colour can look different on screen, in sunlight or in shade. Compare samples next to your window frames and other materials, both close up and from a few metres away.

05Are decorative insulation panels resistant to rain and frost?

Yes. NEX THERMO panels are designed for exterior use and are resistant to rain, temperature changes and freeze-thaw cycles. The exterior finish, together with correctly sealed joints and installation details, helps protect the façade against water penetration.

NEX THERMO panels can also be installed in winter when working conditions meet the requirements of the installation materials. The decorative finish is already applied in the factory, eliminating its application and drying on site and allowing greater flexibility in scheduling the work.

For correct installation, the substrate must be prepared, dry and free of ice or snow. Air and wall temperatures must remain within the limits specified for the adhesive and sealant during application and curing.

The work can therefore be planned in the colder season too, by selecting suitable periods and conditions for a durable installation.

06Can NEX THERMO insulation panels reduce heating and cooling costs?

Yes. NEX THERMO panels help a house retain heat in winter and limit heat transfer from outdoors in summer, reducing the energy needed to maintain indoor comfort.

How large could the difference be?

In an illustrative calculation using a 15 cm stone wool layer with thermal conductivity of 0.035 W/(m·K) and thermal resistance of 4.25 m²K/W, heat transfer through an initially uninsulated wall with U = 1.50 W/(m²·K) falls by approximately 86%.

This reduction concerns heat loss through the wall analysed. Savings for the whole house also depend on the windows, roof, floor and ventilation.

What could this mean for your budget?

Winter: with heating costs of RON 6,000 per season, if walls account for 35% of heating demand, the calculated saving is approximately RON 1,800 per season.

Summer: with cooling costs of RON 1,000 per season, if walls account for 15% of cooling demand, the calculated saving is approximately RON 130 per season.

These examples are indicative and assume unchanged indoor temperatures, energy prices and equipment efficiency. For each project, the estimate is adapted to the building and the confirmed characteristics of the selected panel.

With NEX THERMO, you can improve comfort and give your home a new façade in the same project, with thermal insulation and the decorative finish combined in a single panel.
